Colour coding applies to the shoulder (curved part) of the cylinder and is used to identify the properties of the gas in the cylinder.
Two consecutive bands may be used to depict a gas that has more than one property.

** The colour of the cylinder is only an indication; always read the label to identify a cylinder's contents.
